Less People Using Safe Drinking Water

In July 2018 the Technicians of Tusaidiane Uganda were serving 69 installed Pentair LineGuard Water Purifiers.

In the workshop with 51 Clients in January 2018 we agreed to serve the purifiers twice a year instead of three time a year as before. Main reason for it was to reduce costs, especially transport costs.

From a quality point of view Technicians believed and advised such move is acceptable. Clients with a challenge will continue to phone the Technicians when there is a problem, after which they will help.

For 42 purifiers we could register properly the use of safe drinking water over 6 months (February-July 2018) compared to the period August 2017 to January 2018.

For 15 purifiers we could not do that because of either the unit was out of order or there were made mistakes in recording the use registered by the computer.

For twelve (12) Clients we can not record measurements, because their purifier does not have that functionality.

Conclusions for the 42 Clients with properly recording the use are:

  • During the last 6 months (February-July 2018) the use reduced to the same level as in the comparable period in 2017, whereas there was a clear higher use in the period August17-January18.
  • The use during August 2017 and January 2018 (50.400 litres on average) dropped to 39.500 litres during February-July 2018.
  • Consequently, the number of users using 0,5 litres of safe drinking water per day for those 42 clients dropped from almost 17.000 people to 13.000 users, the same number as during February-July 2017.

Let us hope that next time our Clients will be able to serve at least the same number of people as before.
