Sensitization and improvements in the use of safe drinking water
Tusaidiane Uganda (TUL) hosted the 3rd Clean and Safe Drinking Water Workshop on the 25th of January
2018 at St. Kizito Primary School, Kasanga.
The purpose of this workshop was to hold an interactive discussion with all the owners of the water purifiers
to discuss and assess the use of safe drinking water by community members. 51 people attended the workshop.
Participants were grouped into 5 groups where they discussed the challenges and experiences faced by the
different communities regarding safe drinking water on the basis of a number of questions, such as:
Is your Water Board mobilizing the community users?
Are your Community Leaders communicating the message about the benefits of safe drinking water
to the community members? And how are they doing that?
Are you aware about the performance of your community as communicated to you in the attachment
to the invitation letter? Did you discuss your performance with the community leaders? And with the
community members?
How much are your community members paying for a jerry-can of 5 litres safe drinking water? And
how much are pupils or students contributing?
Is the contribution sufficient for paying the service fee in full? If not, why not?
Why is my community only using less than 10.000 litres of safe drinking water whereas the rainwater
harvesting tanks installed have a capacity of 40.000 litres? What is your community doing with the
surplus in rainwater harvesting?
Why is my community using only little safe drinking water every 4 months, whereas we have access
to sufficient water for purification for everybody in the community?
Why are the communities of colleagues present in this meeting making better use of the safe
